I really like how they describe both the beneficial aspects of mutualism and the negative aspects when cheating occurs in this type of relationship, using both an example with ants and with people. One thing you should’ve definitely included in the video is the citations for where you got your information and pictures.

The video did an awesome job with using real life examples to help understand the concepts of competition. You could always improve by adding more information in the video but overall I found this video informative.

This is by far the most entertaining and informative video I have watched so far. I really enjoyed the different mediums used throughout the video, such as pictures, board drawings, and live acting. This kept me very alert during the video and the voice-over in the background was very clear and spoke with emotion, which helped me pay attention. Overall, the video was great. The only thing I would do to improve the quality of the video would be for it to have a definite ending. The ending seemed a bit abrupt to me, but overall, awesome video.

This video was very well put together. The acting and the ant example were very interesting and helped me relate the concepts of the learning objective to what I already know. However, the video seemed to illustrate interspecific interaction, specifically mutualism, rather than interspecific competition; interspecific competition is a lose-lose interaction and thus does not provide mutual benefit.

I think you had very creative examples, and I liked how you used a combination of drawings and acting. One thing that could have been improved would be to have the speaker be more energetic.

  6. skang323 says:

Nice use of examples not necessarily biologically related to make the concept of competition easier to understand. You could try using background music to make the video a bit more engaging.

  7. nleon6 says:

The explanation was short and thorough, and the acting/visuals were very interesting.

I would suggest adding in some background music to grab the viewer’s attention faster.

Awesome video! The narration was clear and easy to follow, and the examples were great. I think the example of the taxi driver and student was perfect to represent mutualism and cheating — it is a good real-life illustration of the concept!

  9. rmajumdar3 says:

Great video! The explanations were made more clear by providing the side-by-side example of Billy and the cab driver along with the more pertinent ant colony example. Presenting the taxi driver example first before discussing how that same idea functions in the biological world was a good idea.

  10. mmassengill3 says:

I really enjoyed this video! Your examples made the information really relatable and interesting, so it was easy to follow and actually understand. I feel like the concept is a lot clearer now.

  11. jwroe3 says:

Video had the right balance of humor and thoroughness. It was very informative and a good study guide. The voice could have been more enthusiastic.

  12. sabdulhameed3 says:

This video was very informative and really helped me understand the concept! They used a creative real life example of the relationship (taxi driver/person) and related it to a more scientific example using the ants, which really helped me understand it in a different light! I won’t forget it!

  13. fschneider9 says:

This video was entertaining to watch, and I found the ant example to be very interesting. One improvement I would suggest would be to change the ending, where the spoken part ends a bit before the visual part, to be more coordinated.

  14. ksomu3 says:

This video was very entertaining. The human example clearly illustrated the concept of mutualism and cheating. This helped me understand how it could be applied to the biological world. The only thing I would suggest to improve on is to add subtitles since the video did not contain many words and it was all videotaped.

  15. gwilliams81 says:

Strange videography/graphics. The examples were understandable. Somewhat engaging but straightforward.

  16. gvargas9 says:

I loved this video and found the humor to be extremely effective at keeping my attention. The voice was very calm and slow which helped me understand the lesson. Perhaps adding music would add to your video’s tone and attention grabbing ability.

  17. jcochell3 says:

I really liked the example with the student and the taxi, it grabbed my attention and kept me interested in the video. I will say that the narrator wasn’t always engaging though; perhaps if he had a bit more enthusiasm or inflection, the video would be sure to fully grasp the viewer’s attention.

  18. apatel429 says:

I really liked this video especially the real life examples of interspecific competition! It made the concept clearer to understand and was easy to follow! Really helpful!

  19. jclark91 says:

Solid video. This was entertaining to watch because of the real life examples. By relating real world examples to the biological world, it was very easy to understand your topics. The only constructive comment that I have is to maybe add in some sound effects to enhance quality of the video. Good work.

  21. silter3 says:

Very good explanation and narration, the examples very clearly related to the subject. However, more graphics that visualized the concept of interspecific competition in a more varied manner would have been useful.

  22. smosley30 says:

The juxtaposition of the real life example with a scientific example really helped solidify the understanding of the concepts. The different mediums (acting vs. drawing) also added some visual interest in the video. The narration was a little slow, which left room for some more information.

  23. mjung43 says:

I liked the overall video because the title first caught my attention. It was creative and descriptively made. However, I think the speed and tone of the narration could have been improved a bit. I don’t mean to say it was too lacking, but rather just a thought.

  24. fasif6 says:

The real-life example and ant parallel was very interesting. It made the video interesting and engaging. However, the shakiness of the camera during the drawing parts was a little distracting, but didn’t obscure the information. One of my favorite videos so far.

  25. koates7 says:

Your group did an amazing job on this video. The mix of real world examples along with the varied presentation of the examples kept me engaged throughout the video, and really pushed the overall understanding of the concept. My only suggestion would be for the speaker to sound a tad bit more enthusiastic.

  26. enguyen9 says:

I liked how you had acting, as well as drawing diagrams to explain the concepts. The narration was clear, and easy to follow.
The narration could have been a little more enthusiastic.

Well made!! The examples used were perfect for the information being presented and the delivery was done really well also.

  28. hadjunta3 says:

this video is hilarious. its really catchy. I got to admit it was really clever how you guys mixed the topics, the format, and acting. however, I would love more information on the board at the moment of explain the topics, like more visual aids with the respective concepts. your examples and the real life basis its really engaging. well editing.
